The 2006 Honda Civic - An Extreme Transformation of Design and Dynamics

The Honda Civic is the cornerstone of Honda and its automotive heritage, earning recognition and acclaim as an icon in the automotive industry since its introduction in 1973. The Civic represents the first high volume production automobile that showcased Honda’s spirit of innovation to a North American audience ready for something new. Cumulatively, Civic has reached 16 million customers globally and 7 million in the United States, where it has been the best selling retail compact car for the past nine years. The Civic was the seventh best selling vehicle overall in 2004 and third best selling passenger car. If the Civic were its own individual brand, annual sales in excess of 300,000 would make it the 13th top selling brand in the United States out of more than 40 possible brands (1).

2004 Honda Civic LX

The Civic returns for 2004 available in three sedan models: DX, LX, and EX. The exterior receives a freshened look with redesigned tail lamps and new wheel covers. The interior has been revised in several ways, including improved seat fabric and a new center console with storage and armrest (LX and EX only). Also returning for 2004, a CD player, manual driver's seat height adjustment, and rear adjustable headrests have been added to the LX standard equipment list. Two new exterior colors have also been made available, Galapagos Green and Shoreline Mist. Easy to read gauges are now standard on LX and EX models. The GX Sedan, equipped with a SULEV engine and a automatic CVT transmission, will be available later in the model year.

Honda CRZ keeps the flag flying

The new NSX is a goner - which Matt Master isn’t happy about - and there won’t be another S2000. But all is not lost for fun Hondas. Foreman has been getting answers about the new CRZ coupe. It’s a hybrid, but it should be fun.
It goes on sale late next year. And it’s more than just a dollied-up Insight. I spoke to a Japanese engineer involved. He looked at me very seriously, like his honour was at stake, and said they want people like us to want one not because it’s green but because it’s fun.
They even thought about building a non-hybrid version of the CRZ, but decided against it. Honda is royally cheesed off that Toyota gets seen as the king of green car companies, so to rebuild its tree-hugging image Honda wants to build a set of hybrid-only cars. The Insight and CRZ are the first two.
The CRZ’s engine is spunkier than the Insight’s. It’s a 140bhp 1.8-litre. The ‘integrated motor assist’ system – that is, the hybrid gubbins of motor, battery and electronics – will be as per the Insight.

Honda Civic: hatchback par excellence

Look at this new honda Civic; the five-door hatchback is built in Britain for Europe – and expected in SA in the second half of 2006. If this doesn't change the average person's perception of what a honda is, then the cause is surely lost.

FUTURISTIC STYLING: The nose is glassed-in right across its width with gill-like, angled layers of chrome either side of the "H" badge. It's one thing for a radical concept car to make it almost unchanged to production if it's a high-glamour coupé - Alfa Brera or Audi TT - but if it happens with a hatchback it's much more significant

Eighth generation of Honda Accord is very near to its release. So how would 2009 Honda Accord Coupe that is going to be launched around the spring or summer of 2008 look like. We have very little information on that but what we could claim is that it would very much resemble 2009 Honda Accord Coupe Concept, revealed in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Why We Drove It: The 2009 Kia Rondo is the most fuel-efficient midsize wagon when equipped with a four-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission, accordNot many vehicles lay claim to providing three-row seating in the same footprint occupied by the Honda Civic, but Kia can. The 2009 Kia Rondo sits on an identical wheelbase as the Civic, and is just a smidge longer overall. Yet, it offers optional seating for seven passengers. The only other vehicle that comes close to duplicating this trick is the Mazda 5, but that mini-minivan features a maximum of six-passenger capacity. The Rondo arrived for the 2007 model year, a small, tall, roomy wagon designed for overseas markets – where small, tall and roomy are critical characteristics of family transportation – and has quietly sold in modest numbers since its debut. JDPower.com is reviewing the Rondo because it is the most fuel-efficient model in its class, according to the EPA.ing to the EPA.

We could very much expect a choice between 4-cylinder engine and a V6. The next generation V6 (with Honda’s i-VTEC variable valve timing) is going to be more fuel efficient as claimed by company. V6 with its Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology will surely make it possible as the technology de-activates every other cylinder when the car is cruising under light load to reduce fuel consumption. Once higher power is required engine runs with its all the cylinder activated.
There is no doubt for the safety features of the future Honda Accord Coupe due to Honda’s Safety for everyone initiative. Honda has set up a baseline of safety features for all its future models. 2009 Honda Accord Coupe will be for sure have front and side-impact airbags for people sitting at front seats, the curtain style head protection airbags for both front and rear would fall in the basic safety features. The electronic stability control and advanced anti-lock brakes presence could not be denied. ACE i.e. Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure would be present which incorporates a front-end frame structure primarily designed to wholly soak up and dissolve crash energy over a big area in case of a frontal collision.

2006 Honda Civic

Honda is making waves around the globe rolling out its all-new, eighth-generation Civic. While in the United States, we're most excited about the 200-hp Si model, in Europe, it is the combination of zippy performance and fuel economy in the base models that has consumers fired up. In Europe, there are three engine choices: 1.4L i-DSI (intelligent-Dual and Sequential Ignition), 1.8L, and 2.2 i-CDTi diesel. Given the rise in gasoline prices, all commuters can appreciate the new hybrid with a 1.3L three-stage i-VTEC engine that can recover 10 percent more energy than the outgoing model. This hybrid system has 20 percent greater output than the '05 model and still shows a five percent improvement in fuel economy. The Civic also boasts gains on the safety front, with standard features such as ABS with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and a seatbelt reminder system for the rear passengers. The company expects that the new Civic will achieve Euro NCAP ratings of 5 stars for front and side impact safety.
